The up and coming Ladyhawke, who is being hailed as a fresh of breath air, with her 80’s glam rock approach to style and music with a hipster edge, shes already influencing fashion designers across Europe. Her song Dusk Til Dawn was part of the soundtrack to Osman Yousefzada’s Spring Summer 2009 runway show this past September.

Currently touring the United Kingdom with the Black Kids, she has yet to enter into the American market, so I figured RAT RIOT should give you all a taste of this amazing lady. Peep her new music video, officially released a few days ago, after the jump.

Interview With An Icon

It has been nearly 30 years since Grace Jones hit the scene in a major way, solidifying herself as not only a musical genius, but an unparalleled fashion icon. In the last decade, her influence on fashion has been unmatched by any other fashionista to date. Her bold style, and no-holds-bar approach to style as well as her unique electric energy has everyone raving again about Ms. Jones and her new album, Hurricane, released this past Tuesday. The album includes appearances from Brian Eno, Tricky, Sly and Robbie, to name just a few.

The nearly 60 year old fashion Icon, who is on the latest cover of DAZED & CONFUSED, sat for an interview with TIMES LONDON; some of the highlights as well as the video for her first new single in 20 years after the jump!

The Swedish beauty Lykke Li, who is slowly gaining world wide attention with her latest album Youth Novels (released this past May), is RAT RIOT’s Artist of the Week. The 21-year-old hipster goddess is taking over slowly but surely. Raised in India, Marrocco, & Sweden, her music reflects many genres of influence. Her new single, Im Good, Im Gone, is one of my favorite indie records of the fall. Her soft melodic voice, catchy lyrics, and tambourine riddled beats take listeners to another place.

Here are a few tracks from her debut album. My favorite is Dance Dance Dance. Its simple, yet complex. Anyways, her newest video is also our feature video of the week. Its AMAZING! :) Visit ITUNES to purchase her album

Q-Tip (who was recently featured on the cover of FILTER) is back, and true Hip Hop stans couldn’t be happier, or more excited about the lyrical-geniuses return. After his 2002 followup to his solo debut album Amplified was shelved by his label, fans have been waiting for nearly a decade for an album from the Queens rapper. Without a doubt, it has been well worth the wait.

With appearances from Kanye West, and D’Angelo to name a few, the album is a testament to lyricism and neo-soul and the rappers expiriences in the last decade. Songs like Johnny Died, one of my personal favorites from the album, dwelves into the deteriation of Hip-Hop. The Renaissance is slated for release on November 4th.

His firts single Gettin Up, released in september, was a teaser to many of the great tracks in store on The Rennaissance. Take a listen to some of the tracks that have leaked. :). The album gets a 5/5 from RatRiot!

Singer M.I.A, as many of you well know, has become an indie fashion icon, and has inspired many hipsters to be bolder, louder, and even a bit tighter in the wardrobe selections. :). Her personal style has always set her apart from her peers in the industry, and earlier this year, she announced the launch of her own clothing line, personally designed by HER, unlike many celebrity lines of the present. Those designs are now up for sale on her website as well as on the racks at Opening Ceremony.

Fader Magazine recently did an in depth interview with M.I.A about the line. Check it out after the jump, along with a great video shot by M.I.A in Jamaica, where she held a shoot for her first collection featuring locals.
